DragonHawk - Hidden Dragons

From Prision to the Mountain Top

Arrg I waited too long and now I and quite fuzzy on these details from the last Fairy game, and any details you remember would be helpful…

The party awoke in a Fey prison. Kehn, Edward, Anuja, Lightning, and Tranquility all demanded of the nearby guards why they found themselves locked up. Boha and Liftrasa were all there, but they had fallen victim to the Fey Sleep and were catatonic (though standing).

A stranger was also in the cell with them, a mortal Elf Ranger from their world. His named was Izul , also did not know why he was there, and he clearly did not trust the party.

A Gentry Fey came to explain to them why they were there. It seems the Fey more or less blame them for setting in motion the chain of events the resulted in Baba Yaga coming to their home, the Fey capital. Apparently in Fey law the resultant outcome weighed much more heavily and the justification much less then compared to the mortal world.

The Fey made clear that the trial would happen in 60 days and that they would be kept in the cells for that very “short” amount of time. They of course did not understand why that seemed so long to the mortals within.

They Fey explained to them that the revelation that the Queen had colluded with other tribes and possible lied would place her in a Crux, a terrible Fey crisis that might result in power loss, or even death.

Something more was said that made the party decide they needed to seek out the Mountain that Baba Yaga mentioned in a whisper to them; “If you want to know why the Queen did this , seek your answer on the Mountain.”

There was some negotiation and requests made, but little was gained. They discussed at length their options and decided to use Lightning’s Dimension Door spell to escape.

The party came to the conclusion that they needed to attend this trial in 60 days, but in the meantime they would travel to the mountain.

They manage to escape the city without any trouble, before the alarm was raised. They party crossed the bridge to the Great Valley and traveled up toward the Mountain. Near the base, they met some Giants, Galikan and Clarenbump. They were on edge, but willing to talk. They turned out to be related to the Giant Kehn negotiated with a short while ago in a cave to the north. They reported annoyance with the harassment by the Fey on this mountain.

Shortly after that, the group encounter hostile Fey and were forced to battle them. The fight proved victorious for the party,

As they traveled up the mountain trail, they faced a more fight with Pucks, Grogans, Shee all from the Nightmare Court and all good magic users. There were dark wizened Bogey attacking from the shadows and darkly beautiful Uninvited tempting them to change sides , and grotesque Horde Fey attacking without warning.

The party defeated all these challenges, but not without injury or weakness. They also encountered two Fey Guards, Gentry Centaurs apparently, who insisted the party turn back.

We ended the night here with the party jaundiced what to do. Rest, go back or proceed on to the summit.

MAIN GAME INTERLUDE

Beales made some a major purchases, and helped Amaryllis with a secret Rogues guild task. (Amaryllis managed to make connections with the very secretive and almost unknown Mythagem Thieves guild).

Moriah gained some important support deals from Mythagem for Synerg including the loan a a Lyre of Building to Beales for rebuilding of Synerg. He will be rewarded with some impressive gems for this.

Elstem agreed to;

Provide food for 10,000 teleported to Synerg for 1 month
Provide Advanced Scrying of enemy forces around Synerg and provide significant early warning of any movements.
Loan the Lyre of Building and arrange release of Beales from his performance contract in Mythagem so he can travel back to Synerg.

Mayor Moriah agreed to ;
After Synerg is secure, provide 50 Synergy soldiers, (preferably with ranger skills) to aid Mythagem in patrolling surrounding mountains (She obtained Prince’s approval)

Allow the opening of a Mythagem Embassy in Synerg and construction of a conference building where Midori and Mythagem can meet on neutral ground to discuss Elvin issues.

Beales also hold a special performance for Elstem to raise money for a special research project he needs funding for.

The four then leave (teleport) for Synerg.

Meeting Baba Yaga

The party awoke after a night of rest, one they sorely needed. The routine of prayer, study and camp activities felt comforting after so much turmoil. They engaged the Sidhe around them in conversation, hoping to learn more about them, especially Edric, the Prince they saved.

Sometime that morning a magical summons came interrupting their fellowship . The Fey wizards immediately vanished while the other Fey leaped upon their steeds and dashed off. They headed east, but their intent to head back to the castle was all too clear.

The party debated what to do for a while, but soon decided they needed to head back to the Fey village and castle as well.

A few hours down road, they rounded the edge of the swamps and headed west toward the village. Able to track the horses they knew the correct path. Later that day, the party encountered the first refugees.

Refugees streamed out of the forest away from the village. Terrified, they wold not stop to explain why they ran, but a few words here and there and the party gathered that “Baba Yaga” had come to the castle.

Later they came upon a field filled with bodies, Fey bodies. Ryn soon discovered why as the ground was littered with magical traps, Symbols that, when past by, would trigger any number of nasty effect upon you and anyone near you.

They carefully tracked their way through, slowly avoiding most of the traps, but not all. A few struck out hurting the party, but they persevered. Unfortunately, that was not all they had to face. They were attacked right in the middle of the mine field by a bush, or rather Shambling Mounds, living plants that wanted to eat them. Quick thinking use of Force Beads and the three mounds were dispatched, one at a time.

After this they decided to use the refugee’s tracks to determine where a safe path through the traps lay. This proved successful enough to get them past the traps.

The party soon thereafter were attacked by Phase spiders. They struck without warning, appearing next to the party, striking, then dashing off, only to disappear again.

The battle with the spiders was furious, and their poison was deadly, so deadly that Lightning took a fatal dose, falling dead. Not before significantly damaging the spiders though. It took some fast thinking, but the rest of the party were able to finish off the spiders.

Coming upon the village now, they saw a horde of phase spiders and some Shambling mounds surrounding the village, ringed around the entire Fey army, who stood a last desperate defense holding back the creatures.

The creatures however only seemed to be holding them all in. In the center stood Baba’s hut, and floating before the hut in all his glorious power was the Fairy King. On the ground lay Prince Edric, tied by strong glowing rope.

Baba and the King allowed the party to approach. They told the story of how the half-giants had been framed for heinous crimes and how Edric had been manipulated into challenging them, resulting in battles to the death.

They accused Beleron, the Guard captain, of arranging all this. When Baba asked for proof, they told her that Lightning, the dead wizard had the proof. She cast reincarnate, raising Lightning up as a half elf. Upset at being a half Elf, it took Lightning a while to adjust to his new surroundings. He struggled with his pride and ego, but eventually did provide the info that Baba needed to believe their story. He gave her the scroll found on the body of a guard, laying forgotten in a giant’s cave saying this would show Beleron did this when the magical protections had been dispelled.

Beleron admitted to playing only small part, thinking it being a prank on Edric that would knock his overlarge ego down.

When the magical protections had been dispelled, the scroll revealed that Dagda ordered the placing of the fake evidence framing of the giants. The King demanded Dagda admit his part, but he refused and to everyone’s shock, the King sentenced him to death, holding him over a black pit.

Before that sentence cold be carried out the Queen rushed forward, eager to protect her son. She confessed there, in front of the King and Baba of arranging the entire affair. She said Dagda, Beleron and other only knew small parts of the plan.

The King commuted the Death sentence for Dagda.

Baba requested that custody of the Queen be given to her for one year, promising to return her, “alive”. The King granted the request, and Baba drug Queen away screaming.

Lightning meanwhile, begged Baba to turn him back into a full Elf, like he was before. After numerous pleadings, she complied. He turned back into the elf he was before, and was dead again.

Before she left, Baba whispered some words of guidance to the party; “The reason the Queen did this lies on top of El Capitain mountain to the west. Go there if you wish to know the truth, but be warned; the truth is dangerous!”

Afterwards, Snydees came forward and joined the group. She had turned Fey and now wished to live with the Fey. She was able though to appeal to her goddess of the moon, to Raise Lightning from the Dead. The party spent the required 5000 gold, and he awoke, groggy and permanently weaker, but as a full Elf.

Frame, Retribution and Heroics

The party woke up in front of the cave, at least most of them did. Tranquility, Luthstrsa, and Ryn fell victim to the Faerie sleep and did not wake. Boha summoned his warhorse, tied them on its back and the party headed back. When they reached the second monument Lightning encouraged them to follow the giant tracks north to see what they could learn.

When they reached the cliff faces of the mountain range there was another cave similar to the one they found to the west, but what drew their eyes immediately were the three giant-sized graves near the front of the cave.

Khen sneaked up to the mouth of the cave and peered in. He saw a Giant eating a large leg of some animal. He backed quickly away from the cave to tell the others.

After some debate, they cast invisibility and Darkvision on Khen who then crept into the cave again. He crept past the giant and explored the cave. He followed the cave back to a hidden cistern water supply. However the giant , having heard his footsteps, had followed him and now blocked the only exit. Since by this time the invisibility had worn off Khen decided to talk his way out the predicament.

After the initial banter, the giant surprisingly asked Khen to do a quest for him and determine why “the normally justice loving Gentry Fey killed his innocent family members.” Khen agreed to help in exchange for some “food”.

Khen left the cave and returned to the party. Just when he returned, the party was surprised by a noise in the forest. Out walked Edward and Snydees.

Edward had awoken from his faerie sleep to find Snydees in the “tent” with him. When he woke her, she filled him in and they went in search of the party. Moira told them where their friends had gone and with the help of a friendly Fey guard the two went to the monuments and picked up the tracks of Boha.

The newly reunited party retraced their tracks to the monuments and back to the Bridge. A strange fog rolled across as they started walking the bridge.

When they were halfway across an angry giant stormed from the far side of the bridge. He threw a large boulder through the air straight for them. It crashed just in front of the party and broke a huge hole in the bridge. He then bellowed fiercely and demanded they turn around and leave. Swinging his axe menacingly back and forth across the hole in front of him he dared any to attack.

Edward dared just that. He leaped across the hole and landed just in front of the giant, who promptly hit Ed with the side of his axe and knocked him back , right into the hole. Edward fell.

The battle ensued via range weapons for bit. Boha ran back to start of the bridge to enlist the aid of the Fey guard, but he was sleeping. Boha woke him up, and the guard blew his warning horn, but then suddenly darts flew out of nowhere and struck them. When the guard saw the markings on the Dart, he ran away from the bridge and the battling heroes.

Khen tried jumping the hole himself but was also knocked into the hole. Using his monk reflexes he grabbed the edge of the hole, but he immediately noticed a strange thing; he was holding he edge through what seemed to be solid bridge planking. It was an illusion!
The hole was an illusion and another illusion covered a real hole. Khen climbed up out of the hole and told everyone about the hole.

Snydees or Anuja quickly cast Dispel magic on the illusions and not only did the hole move, but the giant disappeared as well. Unfortunately, a dozen darts flew in at them from unseen sources. Anuja cast a mist to provide them cover. Lightning used his See Invisibility gem to discover 8 pixies surrounding them and throwing darts (with poison)

Khen ran to wake the other guard and to summon help while Snydees and Anuja healed who they could. Lightning meanwhile could see the pixies so he launched a fireball at them. the others took cover while he fired another fireball.

They all then saw the two pixies had saved Ed and were carrying him away.

Khen raced back to join the fight but was put asleep by a dart. Snydees used neutralize poison on him and was able to wake him. Lightning tried to use hold person one one of the flying pixies but it failed. They flew further away and the whole party ran after them, through a hail of poison darts.

A second hold person froze on the pixies forcing the other to slowing bring Ed to the ground. After he set down (hard) Ed woke up from poison sleep. Under cover of many darts and magic missiles the pixies all flew off in retreat. Strangely however, they remained viable, jeering the heroes, encouraging them to chase after the pixies.

A couple more fireballs from Lightning (scrolls) dissuaded them from that idea. At least one pixies for sure escaped. (possibly more given their penchant for illusion)

The bridge guard brought help to the bridge and searched the area for any more pixie attackers, but found none.  Based on their description the Fey believed these to be rogue Gentry pixies, but they could not be sure.  They did not have the appearance of Horde or Uninvited Fey.

The party first decides to re-interview Angus, teh Kings adviser. After some initial questions, they decide to trust him with some information. Eventually when they mention that the three giant’s uncle told them of a “mother” of the three giants living to the south, Angus grew worried. He told of a powerful magical creature that lived out there. The King allowed it only because it was too much trouble to remove this creature. iF she was the "mother"she would have had no problem defeating Edric.

They then decided to investigate the other clues.

The word spread among the Fey settlement and castle quickly.  When the party entered the tavern, word had preceded them.   In the tavern, Anuja found Pugul and went to talk with him in the corner of the bar.  Meanwhile, Boha and Khan questioned the Tavern keep (actually winery).

The Tavern owner produced a piece of his broken sign that had sign been repaired and replaced. To everyone’s surprise it was an EXACT replica of the piece the party had retrieved from the backpack of the dead Fey guard in the giant cave.

After some discussion Khen joined Anuja and Pugul.  It was discovered that this was Edric’s favorite place and the singer Asheron, Edric’s favorite, performed her routinely.  The party headed to her house next and told her everything.  She also had an exact replica of the Gold ribbon for best Signer that the party had found in the backpack.

She was very surprised at the fact that the giant’s appeared to be innocent, and proposed that Edric would have known nothing about this frame.  They discovered that Red the Bard ran a traveling minstrel’s show, (on wagons) that was Edric’s favorite, but that they were gone for at least a week.

They decide to sleep for the night and thin the morning they interviewed the Queen. They did not get much information. They did not learn very much. Though the Queen did try to steer suspicion toward the Yarthkin. Then they interviewed Bladinger and with Pugual’s help also interview the Princess. Bladinger challenged Edward to a sparing match after he got off duty.

Thinking they had learned all they could, the party decided to head out the creek they know Beleron covered up the track of Edric when he searched for Edric right the disappearance.

They dont find track of Edric, but after some amazing tracking they do find track of the Grogan Fey stag person (Dun). They manage to follow these tracks to the mushroom grove.

They found a small hut with a herb garden and merchant’s stand. When Khen approached stealthily a pair of mushroom detected him and screamed an alarm. He escaped undetected. Then the whole party approached as if to buy something. A young beautiful woman came out of the hut and discussed selling her wares. N the discussions they asked for a magical search for Edric. The paid for this, but it failed. The party left, but before they gone far, a magical fog enveloped them and a Greenish Hag-like creature attacked them.

At a touch, Edward contracted Blinding sickness, but his strong fortitude saved his life. The mysterious fog complicated the battle, but Boha and Edward landed terrific damage while resisting the strange magic of the creature. Anuja buffed the fighter and Lightning used his magic to hamper her movement back into the fog and then finished her off with a Phantasmal killer.

When they went back to the center of the grove, the “hut” was gone. They searched and discovered a magical wand, a bunch of potions and poisons, and mysterious markers in the herb garden.

Lightning determined that the marker were magical. After casting read magic, it was clear each marker bore the name of missing people. While the others searched and stood guard he cast identify on the marker named Edric and determined to everyone’s surprise, that t was in fact Edric, transformed into this marker.

Anuja transformed into a Hawk and flew back to the castle to tell Angus. He quietly gathered some Fey wizards and quickly flew with Anuja back to the mushroom grove while ordering a contingent of guard to follow on foot as fast as they could.

When they arrive the wizard returned Edric to his normal shape. He was very distressed to learn that he had killed innocent giants. When the party related the battle they had and describe the creature to Edric, he said, to everyone’s distress, that she was just an apprentice to the Hag that transformed him. She had apparently taken her hut and moved elsewhere.

She could be anywhere and could return without a moment’s notice.

The Mystery Deepens

The party was surprised when a messenger showed up saying that Boha and Tranquility were awake and could be returned to them. A Dryad escort brought them via tree travel to the bush-walled enclosure the others were staying at. They both reported having woken up, naked and intertwining with a Fey of the opposite sex in Saturnyn’s home. After the initial confusion, they agreed to come assist the party, their former companions.

As they were getting re-antiquated and trying to figure out again how they all got here, a noise came from outside the enclosure. Exiting they found Liftrasa being accosted by two Satrys. Though it did not appear this was entirely against her will, knowing the charming powers of the Fey Boha attempted to put a stop to it which resulted in a battle of sorts.

No blood was spilled and eventually the Satyr’s gave up. Boha reported all this to their Fey guide, Moira who cleared all of any legal retribution; “all’s well that ended well.”

Anuja had been missing and came in that morning with disheveled hair. She had met Pugual, a close friend of Prince Edric, the night before and spent the entire night with him, “questioning” him about Edric. She implied things went a bit farther than she intended, but would not go into details.

The party then began their investigation and interviews in earnest. They started with the Queen, Latherin. After they interviewed her, they talked with Angus the King’s adviser. Based upon things they learned from them they wanted to question Beleron, the Captain of the home Guard again because they are growing more suspicious of him. They use Detect Thoughts on him and find him to be lying about many things.

After that they traveled away from the castle to find Ana, Edric’s real Mother, planning then to visit the 3 sites of the Giant slayings.

The group had to cross the Bridge of the Chasm that separated the Forest from the Great valley. The valley stretch out beyond the ridge, beautiful and full of grandeur. On the far side stood great mountains that seemed to rise up out of the valley floor like a waterfall of stone. One mountain stood above the others, it huge round top standing like a bald sentinel over the whole valley (think of El Capitan and Yosemite valley)

After the bridge, along the way, they were attacked by an invisible stalker. Due to some fantastic listen checks, and tactile ambush and Lightning’s magic they were able to defeat this mighty foe, will they be so lucky next time???? While others distracted it, and hit it with an arrow Lightning “saw” it with a See invisibility spell and then hit it with a Phantasamic killer, the creature amazingly failing both its saving throw died instantly!

The group talked with Ana and after learning a lot they then moved on to the Giant slaying spots. (Notice i am not writing down what the party learned, that is for you to track but I have collected all the rumors in a list here.. Fey Mystery Rumors)

All three spots had a magical monument to Edric’s slaying of the Giant. The three spots lay in order moving toward the west, northwest, moving closer to the Cliff faces of the mountain range.

At the first spot, on the monument itself, they found a Golden ribbon with the words “Ashern, Best Singer” stitched on it left as an offering. They also found carved into the monument the words “It was just one giant”. Dog and horse tracks were found mixed in with many giant’s tracks.

At the second spot, on the monument itself, they found a decorative Stein, with Edric’s name engraved on it just above “Rusty Pipes, Dusty Strings and Musty Mugs.” They also found carved into the monument the words “So he killed another, they are plenty more”. Dog and horse tracks were found mixed in with giant tracks. The giants’ tracks were found to lead north toward the mountains and cliffs, but the party choose to head to the third spot instead of following the tracks.

At the third spot, on the monument itself, they found a small flute, with a drawing of a Harp etched into the side of it with red ink. They also found carved into the monument the words “How many have to die?”. Dog and horse tracks were found mixed in with giants’ tracks. This time the party followed the tracks from this site to the north.

The tracks lead to a cave in the Cliff face at the base of the mountain range. Before they enter though Anuja’s hawk flies in to warn her that large number of animals (wolves) are charging toward the party through the forest. The group quickly sets up a impromptu ambush and so when the wolves burst out of the trees they are ready for them with a Web that holds most of them. However, another group of Dire Badgers attacks from the right and left, flanking the party. Tranquility and Liftrasa climb a tree to escape the Badger attacks. The fights hard, and some are injured, but they emerge victorious!

The surmise from the nature of the attacks that someone, some Fey, is summoning creatures to attack them.

When they explore the Cave they find some treasure! They also find a skeleton wearing the uniform of a Castle Guard. In this Dead Guard’s backpack they find 4 important clues.

1. A scroll that has magical writing on it protected with a magical pass-phrase that scrambles the message for anyone without the pass-phrase.
2. A Broken Lute, engraved with the name Ashern
3. A piece of a broken Tavern sign, that reads “Musty Mug”
4. A broken wagon wheel spoke and hub marked with a red Harp.

They party decides to rest there in front of the cave for the night.

Deeper in Farie and Deeper in Trouble

The party accepted Saturnyn’s help and made two bargains or pacts with him.

The first one was in exchange for handing over possession of Tranquility and Boha (so he could attempt to pull them from their trance) he would transport two others here who could aid them in their quests.

A Dryad brought Anuja Boru, who they had not seen since coming here (except in the Dream) and Ryn, a half elf stranger, magically out of tree. They had been found wandering the area as well and Saturnyn had took them in for their own safety. Ryn introduced himself, and the party remembered Anuja, but neither had any memory of how they had come there.

(I was SO amazed that the party gave over Tranquility and Boha without any concern or conversation….)

The second agreement was for them to retrieve a Prince that was missing from a local “Gentry” tribe of the Dream Court. (He gave a detailed description of the Courts and their different tribes which is covered here) in exchange for access to a portal that would take them back to their home plane. His hope was that once returned, the forces of that tribe would join the battle over the Faerie Stone on his side.

The party picked this quest over two others. (Clearing a cave of Bogeys, Nightmare Court Fey, Or Clearing a Castle of Horde, Nightmare Court Fey).

In each case, when Lightning shook Saturnyn’s hand, a magic spell fell over them.

After some discussion Ryn decided to join the party, at least for now as he seemed to have little other choice.

The party followed the map he gave, which also told them were a perpetual feast was located in a Revelry Tribe area. On the way, they were attacked by 6 small Fey creatures in a clearing where they had camped. They were like Hedgehog humanoids that moved very fast. Luckily, Anuja’s hawk saw them coming and warned the party.

The battle was close in a way, though no one was seriously hurt. The party proved amazingly lucky in resisting the Fey magic hurled against them, though some of the Fear and Jinx’s did make the battle interesting. Physically they were no match for Edward and fell victim to Lighting’s magic as well.

Afterwards they questioned one of the Fey Urchins that Lightening had held with magic. They learned a little, but tied up the creature and brought him along to hand over to the Gentry tribe. He was from the Horde and had a crude drawing of an elf that looked like Thuynder ( at least to his brother Lightning it did).

As the party near the Revelry area, they notice the nature of the Forest changing. It became more vibrant, the colors brighter and almost garish. Every color is richer here; the leaves are emerald, the toadstools spotted red, blue or gold, and the animals are all seem aware. The landscape holds more adventure than other places; vines hang out over waterfalls for easy swinging, trees have many ladder-like branches for better climbing, and the ground is piled thick with moss for more dramatic pratfalls. It is a place of brilliant aromas.

When the party reached the Revelry area they decided to take turns watching their prisoner. First, Ryn and Khen watched him while the other went down. It was amazing…

As Snydees, Edward, Anuja and Lightning walked down into the Festival and Feasting area, a dozen or so small elf-like fey ran up to them. (“Pucks of the Portune tribe”) Standing around 3-feet tall they seemed child-like but had mature features that gave the impression of age and wisdom, especially their wrinkled faces and knowing eyes. Beyond their elven characteristics, their appearance varied greatly, each so distinct no one could be confused with the other.

They offered food and drink and portrayed an eagerness to serve the newcomers. As soon as anyone asked for something, they ran off, all of them exhibiting a very fast speed. The four sat down to eat and drink, but shortly into that a group of Satyr-like Fey beings (Grogans of the Revelry tribe) came over playing music. They played flutes, drums, pipes, and other strange instruments.

Soon Snydees arose and began to dance to the music. A few “Satyr’s surrounded her and they moved off by themselves.

Lightning decided to gather as much food as he could, and soon he filled all the pockets of his magical robe. He was also approached by a Satyr / Grogan who asked him if he “wanted to play game”. He held forth a bowl of large precious gems. Lightning agreed immediately and despite an unknown, unfair magical advantage Lightning won two expensive gems in short order. (Later he discovered they were magical and the magic was from the school of illusion)

A beautiful Sidihe of the Revelry tribe walked up to them, naked and extremely alluring. This Nymph instantly drew in and locked in Edward’s attention and desire. All of it. He moved of with her talking quietly. Anuja tried to separate them but she could do nothing. She went to Snydess to get some help with Edward, but she would not leave her dancing and was insistent that Anuja should join her…

So Anuja went to get Lightning to try to help. Meanwhile Edward had moved out of the Festival area into the wood with Numera, the Nymph. He told her he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her.

They tried to break Edward’s fascination with this girl, but failed. Lightning and Anuja decided to go back for help. They went up to the top of the ridge and told Ryn and Khen what had occurred.

Ryn and Khen proceeded down the hill while the other two guarded the prisoner. The same Pucks of the Portune and Revelry tribe ran up offering them food and drink. When asked if they wanted anything, Khen asked for a better Sling, but rejected that when he was told it would take a day or more. One little Puck did say he could help though and ran off to do so. Ryn asked for a backpack and one other little Puck ran to to make one for him.

Khen sat down to feast while Ryn ate just a little bread and proceeded into the camp. Ryn met many Satry’s playing music but was uninterested. A group of Pucks of the Revelry tribe became interested in Ryn and asked him a lot of questions. They then wanted him to join a play they were organizing.

Ryn rejected it, but shortly thereafter one of them walked up and stomped his foot. When Ryn chased, he was lead into the middle of a circle of Fey, who all cheered for the beginning of the play. Another Puck jumped up and called Ryn the Evil Villain, drew daggers and attacked. After a bit of fake battle, the Puck hero had a fake defeat. Then a Puck acting like a Wizard jumped in and faked a magic spell, announcing to the Crowd that the Evil Villain was now changed into the Prince. More cheers.

Then a new Puck declared himself an Evil Villain and threw a real Dagger into Ryn, which he soon discovered was covered with real poison. As Ryn collapsed, the Pucks gathered around him “mourning” the Poisoning of The Prince. (Apparently the title of the play).

Khen then arrived (full of food) in time to see them carrying Ryn around the crowd on madly decorated Bier. They set him down on the ground and held a mock funeral then. Ryn, moaning on the Bier drew great applause. As the play drew to a close, a Puck ran to Ryn and Cast Neutralize Poison on him, so he could stand for the final bow. (Ryn now has a permanent +2 to Poison saves)

They joined up and went to find Edward. Eventually Khen did find Edward, but logn too late for the Nymph ot have her way with him. Upon seeing the Nymph, Khen wanted her for himself. Khen and Edward immediately went to fighting, first punches then grappling, which then resulting in a comical chase back and forth across the Festival with first one carrying the Nymph and then the other.

Eventually the Nymph became tired of this and summoned a fellow Sidihe warrior to intervene. Somehow he quickly knocked out Khen and Nymera told Edward to go on without her. Edward picked up Khen and followed the other back to camp.

Later, after some rest, two Pucks showed up at camp, one with magical sling bullet for Khen, the other with a magical backpack for Ryn. The group gathered themselves and traveled the rest of the way to the Gentry tribe area.

Lands held by the Gentry become larger than life. The gentry live in the midst of the wilderness. They are grand areas where the mountains are sweeping, the lakes are
deep, and the living is richer. Everything is in perfect harmony, the days are bright, and the nights are clear. Wolves lie down with stags, and fairy lights float over the land. Everything tends toward the pastel. Gone are harsh colors or searing lights. The edges around everything are softer here, either by some fey glamour or the gentle mists that cling to the hills. The gentry built spectacular castle of crystal and gemstone, but not by digging. It rests upon quartz pillars.

The party introduced themselves, passed on the word that Saturnyn asked them to investigate the missing Prince Ediric. They were escorted in by the guards and brought to just before a grand ruby red castle raised on 4 quartz pillars. An escort named Moria was assigned to them to guide them around the settlement.

The Captain of the Guard, Beleron, did not want to allow them access to interview anyone, but especially not the eldest Prince Dagda. Moria shamed him into allowing it. They asked Beleron questions, the common folk questions, and then asked the Prince some questions. They planned to ask question of the Queen and the Chief adviser, Angus also. However, they paused to discuss strategy when Moria informed them that the missing Prince’s mother was not the Queen. Ediric and Dagda had different mothers.

Trapped In Fairie
Awake from the Dream

Edward, Khen, Lightning, and Snydees awoke, finding themselves laying on the floor in a wooden room, surrounded by Fairies. Boha and Tranquility lay nearby, still sleeping.
(Ed had not dreamed like the others had)

When they jumped to their feet, it scared the pixies, who flew straight up into the air and disappeared in the gloom above their heads. The room had no ceiling, it only ended in darkness and mist. The wall were smooth wood, feature less except for a tree root coming down the wall and going into the ground.

The four of them tried to find a way out, but nothing was apparent. None could remember how they got here, only remembering the battle around the Faerie stone.

They searched but found little. Edward thought about chopping the root, but Khen sensed something about the root that told he him they should not harm it. Instead Ed dug up the root, and began pulling on it. Eventually it open a door in the wall like a zipper would. (Not that anyone in this time know what a zipper is)

Nothing would wake Tranquility and Boha. Snaedis however, discovered that they would walk if stood up and pushed gently, but they had to be led. She and Ed tied ropes around them and led them out.

Outside the door stood an immense forest. Khen had begun climbing a tree to get a better vantage point, to get a sense of direction.

As he was climbing a Cardinal flew up to him and began talking to him. After getting over the shock of that Khen leaned they were in the Land of the Faerie and that The Sidhe were probably responsible for holding them in that wooden room. The bird did not know he was a human at first, because apparently all the humans in Faerie lived far away in Tent Town. The Cardinal brought a Robin to see Khen and the Robin confirmed Khen was a human. Khen learned much from the birds in his climb up to the top of the tree. That the Sidhe were elf-like and very strong in magic and that there were many creatures here in Faerie (Sidhe, goblins. pixies, sprites, elves and trolls for example). He learned all the creatures cooperated across racial and species, but that they were divided into geographical regions that warred with each other.

On top he located the mountains across which this Tent Town was. It was a very long way away, and in between were vast tracks of Forest.
Meanwhile on the ground Ed explored the nearby area and discovered that the Pixies were still nearby, keeping any eye on them , but never approaching close enough to be clearly seen. After a while Ed became impatient and yelled up the tree for Khen.

Khen did come down safely, but shortly after he did a large band of Goblins attacked. They took them by surprise, but party was still able to defeat the goblins easily. They left one goblin alive to question. From him they learned a bit about the different geographical / tribal regions that were fighting each other.

Then they began the long trek through the forest toward the mountains. After a few days of traveling they ran into a Dire Bear apparently fleeing from something. It had passed up Edward as he hi din the foliage, but Ed jumped out and yelled to warn the party. The Bear attacked him, he battle bravely, but still was very close to death when the party reach him. Khen and LIghtning helped dispatch the bear while Snaedishealed Ed.

After the fight, they continue on their way in the direction the Dire Bear had fled from. Soon they came to a wide swath of flattened forest. It was a hundred feet across with many, many footprints in the forest floor.

A large group of pixies surrounded them then. They were insistant that the group turn around and go back. It apparently was their job to make sure the party stayed in the wooden room and so far they had been hoping they party would turn around, and had not reported to their Sidhe master what had happened. Now however, the party was going to cross a tribal boundary and the desperately wanted them to not do that.

When the party found out that the pixies were not supposed to hurt them, they began leaving despite the pixies warning. Instantly the pixies disappeared and within 10 seconds a strange new creature stood in the path, calling for them to stop.

The party did stop and talk with Saturnyn, the Sidhe. They learned much from him. The learned there was war going on around the Faerie Stone on this side, in the plane of Faerie. A war for control of the Stone. They learned there were very few ways back to their home plane and that Saturnyn had gathered them from the various places they had landed on this plane. He hoped to keep them safe and secure for now so had the pixies attempt to keep them asleep. He could not however, awake Boha and Tranquility and did not explain why.

They learned there may still be more people from their home plane elsewhere on the plane of Faerie.

He offered them a deal. If they would do some tasks to help prevent the wrong side form getting control of the Stone, for him he could show them a few ways to get back to their home plane. He briefly described a few of them and ask them to think on it. They agreed to take him up on his offer.

The Dream Sequence
dreamworld

The party finds themselves in an inn, drinking away the time while a sandstorm blows outside. Khen, Boha, Lightning and Anuja Boru sit in a common room of a normal Inn of the Great Desert. They barely made it before the sandstorm struck.
The room had a table of 4 gorgeous woman, giggling and making gestures at Boha, a table of two strange grimy old men, a few other random patrons at the bar and numerous local natives as waiter and waitresses taking care of the customers.

The two old men shape-shifted into cats and dashed to Anuja, rubbing her leg and trying to get into her lap. She did not trust them, but began petting them anyway. After a bit she questioned the bartender about the cats, and he acted as if they were the most normal thing in the Inn. After all he said to Anuja, can’t you turn into a cat too? (which she could)

Two of the women latched onto Boha and began flirting. One told him not to trust the other, that she was trying to steal. Boha trusted neither of them. The other girls asked Boha to come to the back room. The first girl tried to get Boha alone by telling him she needed his help and she had to whisper in private her problems.

The waitress brought a glowing blue drink to Lightning. He detected the drink as magical and did not drink it. He tried to get Boha to drink it but he refused.

A waiter asked Khen, as an honored member of the monastery if he could help ensure order in the Inn. Khen agreed.

Boha moved to a corner with one girl, and when the other moved to follow, Lightning intercepted he and offered her the glowing drink. She drank the whole thing, then told him how Great a Wizard he was.
Boha finally listened to the girl who told him she was captive there and need him to rescue her. He agreed to Protect her.

The young, pretty girl told Lightening she had magic for him in the back room, if he wanted it. When he insisted she bring it out here, she relented and brought out a spell book and a silver dagger with a gold inlaid leather hilt. Seeing they we magical he took them. He put the dagger in his backpack. He sat down to read the book,

The woman with Boha announced to the whole place that He was her protector now and that they couldn’t make her do anything ever again. A larger ‘bruiser’ type came in from back room and challenged Boha “The Protector” to a fight. Boha and Khen went over to him. Lightning did not. He was drawn into a trance and the book began sucking his intelligence away.

Boha won easily and all the woman were swooning over him.

Meanwhile Khen wanted the fight to stop and restore peace. Boha healed the fallen man preventing him from dying. Anuja had turned herself into a cat to try and talk to these strange shape-shifting cats, but learned nothing about them. In fact they lost interest in her as a cat.

Turning back into a human questioned the girls about these cats. At her instance that all these strange things seemed like out of a Dream the girl told her “Alive but never breathing..” and walked away.

Anuja found this strange and went to tell Khen about it.

Then a Demon walked into the bar. He walked up to the bar and ordered an ale. None of the patrons acted as if this was out of the ordinary. Boha tried to sense evil but felt as if he couldn’t clearly reach his powers. The bartender walked over to Anuja’s table and picked one of the cats. He went behind the bar, held the cat over a mug and squeezed it. A strange liquid came out of the cat into the mug. He set the cat down, apparently unharmed while Anuja could only stare in shock. He served the mug to the Demon and went back to other business. The cat walked back to Anuja and began to take a bath.

Anuja intensely questioned the bartender on all of this, but he acted as if nothing out of the ordinary happened. When she came back from behind the bar, she bumped in Lightning who fell to the ground, still in a trance.

She tried to revive him but could not. Khen came over and started being drawn into the book himself. Anuja shut the book and that brought Lightning out of his trance. His intelligence slowly came back, but at first he babbled incoherently.

Boha told the women they could not follow him. That they needed their own path in life but should end the life they led now. The took off their skimpy clothes and dressed in leather armor and put on swords to try to be like Boha. They asked if the book was dangerous. When Boha said yes, they rushed across room and cut the book to shreds with their swords. The cats ran in fear and hid.

The chaos of their mad rush through the room upset Khen and others. Khen tried to bring the room back into order. Boha counseled the women to not rush off and act hastily in a dangerous situation. They broke into tears and fell to their knees begging forgiveness. When Boha forgave them they leaped to their feet and hugged him. Then they went about cleaning and putting the room to order.

Khen picked up the pieces of the book.

Meanwhile Lightning regained his mind and began to question what other type of guests where staying in this Inn in the back rooms. The waitress told him, many magical and powerful guests who could grant wishes.

So he rushes into the back room where he find an empty circular room with 12 doors leading off it. He picked a door at random and opened it. Inside he found an elf working intently over a table of boiling beakers, and vials of mufti-colored liquids. The elf jumped at the sudden intrusion and dropped a vial he was holding. It fell into a boiling beaker and a large flash of light and explosion of smoke erupted. He yelled, holding his eyes, “I’m blind. Who is that, who came into my room!” The elf gestures and a magic missile flew off and hit the door. Lightning shut the door and moved to his right to the next door.

Khen and Boha meanwhile heard the commotion and followed Lightning into the room. Khen saw the smoke coming under one of the doors and knocked on it, asking if everyone was safe.

The elf opened the door, bandages over his eyes, yelling about the interruption and told Khen what happened. When he learned Khen was a Monk, he demanded Khen bring justice on the interloper who caused his injury. “Eye for an Eye” he said. Khen listen with him and tried to reason with him that this was revenge, not justice. Khen soon gave up and stealthily moved away back into the main room leaving the elf standing in his doorway, ranting to no one.

Lightning opened the next door, saw two elves tossing wands back and forth like they were juggling, while the wands shot magic missile randomly into the air. Lightning quickly shut the door before a magic missile hit him.

Lightning opened the next door and a loud voice grumbled, “What do you want elf boy?” Inside two dwarves sat playing music and whistling along with the music. “Don’t interrupt us boy, we are on the verge of discovering something great.”

Lightning shut that door and went back to a door closer to the front of the room. As he walked away he realized that the dwarves were playing an old Elven nursery rhyme.

When he opened that door, he finally found the Genie he had been looking for. A Genie Mother suckling a baby genie at her breast and surround by 12 other Genie children floating about the room in a complex game.

The Mother complained to him, “Have you brought the food I asked for? Wait, damn, you are not a waiter.”

Lightning stepped in. “I was wondering how I could get a wish.” He asked as he bowed low.

“As if I don’t have enough to do with all these! No!”

Lightning apologized, but before he could leave one of the children flew up to him with an impish smile. “I can give you wish, if you give me that sword.”

Lightning shrugged, drew out the sword and handed it over. "It s not magical.’ Lightning said.

The Genie laughed, and swung the sword about wildly. The room though was way too crowded, and the sword struck one of the other young genies.. and killed him.

The Mother screamed in anger, she rushed over over waived her hand and the young one was resurrected. Then she waived her hand angrily at Lightning. He found himself teleported to the front room, near the front door, as if invited to leave.

One of the cats then turned into a human, and walked up to Khen. “Hello Brother.” Khen was struck speechless at the appearance of his brother, who had died when Khen was young. OR so he thought. They had along conversation in which Khen was convinced this really was his brother. He told a story of being raised into an undead and then growing into power over the years, only returning to his former self when a create and powerful priest cast Resurrect on the undead being he used to be. They made plans to go back to their home village to examine their Father’s grave. Later when Khen began to question his brother how he could have survived for so long when everyone thought we was dead, he responded mysteriously; “Cold as Death”.

Back in the main room, Anuja decided to question the demon about the cat-squeezed drink. Khen assisted her but they received no answers from the strange creature at least no useful answers. At one point, after extensive questioning about ehy he was there, he said; “Always drinking, Never thirsty.”

Lightning went to the bartender and paid for a room to sleep in. He went into the back room and opened his door to find a strange stone bed and a sparse , uncomfortable room. He wished for spell to summon pillows and suddenly one came into his head. He immediately cast it and the room was magically FILLED with pillows. He jumped into the room, burrowed into the pillows and went to sleep.

Meanwhile a young girl talked Boha into coming to the back rooms so she could explain. Bohan went to the back room, but was suddenly attacked. The fight spilled into Lightning’s room, who work up and helped Boha fight them off. Afterwards, Boha questioned the girl; “Why did you attack me? Why did you lead me into an ambush?” But all she would answer was; “Clad in mail, Voice never clinking.”

Boha gathered the party together in the back room. “Something is very wrong here.” They all agreed. Lightning said, “Yes, when i awoke from sleeping among all those pillows to see you fighting, I thought at first it was a Dream.”

Khen jumped up, “Perhaps it is!” At that moment a Secret door revealed itself in the corner of the room. When they went through it they found a room filled with deadly traps, with three seemingly clear paths leading to three doors.

After some adventure and mishap, Boha selected the correct door based upon Justice and the party woke up from the Dream, finding themselves laying on the ground, in a wooden building surrounded by pixies.

Alt game Mission in Woods (prior to end of main game)

(Previous overall goal; Get Celtic Chief’s son, Beren, back out of woods and get Pixies to stop harassing travelers. Beren is in love with pixie kings daughter and she loves him back, but the king forbids the relationship. Pixes told you to do some quests for them before the King will even grant you an audience)

The adventurers’ last episode found themselves fighting a whole village of Kobalds and Goblins. After intense battle, they had defeated the Goblin chief. Deciding to rest in the now deserted village, our heroes slept, prayed, and meditated on their recent experiences. (5,000 points of it-though accidentally gave too much). All felt more powerful after this time.

However, the decision proved to be a bad one. In the middle of the second night, the goblins and kobalds returned. They used sleeping darts on Luftrasa and Tranquility. With them now held hostage, Boha the Paladin was forced to negotiate. Upon learning you were here at the behest of the pixies, the half goblin/kobald leader of the remaining tribe wanted you to lie to them. In exchange for setting the two hostages free, you were to tell the pixies all of the goblins had been killed. After some soul searching and planning our heroes agreed. However, Tranquility was held as insurance.

On way back to pixie’s home you ran into a strange hut with human (mostly) woman outside looking for lost spellbook pages. You agreed to help her, especially when she showed you the 2-foot tall human in her cages. A magical experiment went wrong and left the human shrunk but without their bones. She had magically inserted pixies bones into them stolen from nearby graveyard. She needs you help to revered the spell gone wrong so she can replace the human bones and return the pixies bones before “little gnats find out and never leave me alone”. She was very sensitive about messing up the spell and “held” Ken when he asked her too many times why the spell went wrong.

Lightning found the missing spell pages and you were able to assist her in restoring the humans. (who had volunteered for gold, ) and then escorted the human away. Your old brownie friend showed up willing to lead the humans out of the forest.

When arriving back at the pixies camp, the message was given as promised, but then you told them the truth. The pixies were grateful, but not enough to grant an audience with the King. As you were leaving the Queen approached you and asked you to find Gewellen (the king’s daughter) who had run off again despite the King forbidding her to leave and associate with the human Beren. She marked 4 places on your map where she might be.

You went back north to get Tranquility back. (On way fought and killed more Ettercaps)

You debated the wisdom of risking your necks for the troublesome elf, but in the end traded the info to get her back. She was in rage to kill someone for getting her caught, letting her stay caught and thinking of leaving her. When she was set loose, the Old Man’s Portal caught her before she attacked anyone.

You left searching for Gwellen. A strange event causes your wizard, Lightning, to loose his memory and spells. (pixies spell) You made camp to attempt to restore his spells, but giant ants attacked. (Lighting turned invisible) You then moved camp to get way form ants trail. Ken tied rope around invisible and very sleepy wizard so as not to loose him. Then wood elves surrounded you that morning thinking you had kidnapped a fellow elf.

After explanations went around, the wood elves provide great help and info about past events. Turns out they gave Beren (an elf friend) immunity to pixie charms. They advised you that the pixies would never accept a human into their tribe, no matter what size he was.

You traveled toward next area to look for Gwellen and ran into strange plants that entranced you with magic pollen and then tried to eat your brains. Aleyce (the Ranger) and Lightning the Wizard were caught and lost intelligence before the plant was defeated. Sny-Dees could not heal the intelligence damage so the group decided to head back to the tribal village and seek the druids help for healing.

The Druids healed you. Resuming the search you found Beren, and took back to the King, however, Beren disappeared the next day. You tracked him down again, but it turned out to be a fake Beren, ti was a pixie using illusions to fool you in order to stop your search.

After defeating this pixie, you eventually found the real Beren, but he did not want to return.

He was in love with Gwellen and did not want to return without her. You discussed ways to get them together long into the night.

You eventually found Gwellen and found a way to convince the King to allow the relationship. I don’t recall how, but they were very impressed with the return of pixie bones the “old women” had stolen.

Either on a treasure hunt or in a bid to convince the King(I’m pretty sure this was it), the party did decide to seek out the white Dragon cave. Once there they stealthily entered the cave and found large mound of treasure. The Dragon was away, but it was guarded by here offspring which the party defeated in battle.

The party found some very impressive treasure, including a very powerful magic stone with mysterious powers. On the way back to the pixies camp though, the Adult Dragon returned to find his offspring dead. The Dragon quickly tracked and found them. The party ran, but they stood no chance of escaping. Boha tried to fight , but was ineffective. They battled the Dragon, and someone, if I remember right, Tranquility, was picked up by the Dragon in her claws as it flew up into the sky.

Meanwhile Lightning was communing with the Stone and found it to be a wish stone of sorts. He wished for the Dragon to fall down (happened to be flying high at that moment) and the Dragon fell to the ground , hard. It did not die, but Lightning wished for it to be gone and it s disappeared, non one knows where.

The pixies were so grateful that the Dragon was defeated, the King agreed to anything that Beren and Gwellen wanted.

The wood elves and brownies came to join in the celebration for all groups had lived in fear of the Dragon. The King of the wood elves arrived in great fanfare wit all his people flowing through the forest like water through rocks. The pixies insisted on flying above them at all times, the King refused to be seen as less than the elves. The brownies were nonplussed by all of the activities, so overjoyed to cater the celebration with have their special food.

When the Elf King saw the Stone he had heard so much about he fell to agitated and intense chatter in his own language, though all knew he could speak common. Those who could translate caught the he believed this to be some fabled magical stone out of Elven Legend, The Wellstone of Faerie.

He insisted on the Stone be given to the elves. However, the Pixies King hearing this insisted on the Stone as well, just so the Elves did not have it to lord over them. Lightning however, refused.

After some sort of struggle, Lightning, the wood elf King and the pixie king were each touching the Stone, and exerting their will over it to make simultaneous wishes

I REALLY FORGOT what the wishes were, but the result was that the Stone embedded itself into the ground there, was immovable and could not longer be used for wishes. It remained a very powerful magic artifact though. The elves and pixes agreed to share the access to the stone.

Some of the party (Boha and ?) traveled to Mythagem with Lightning, who had to report to his Wizard test. They intended to report what had happened and to sell some of the treasure they found.

With Boha assisting, Lightning passed his test, though he wished the rest of his party was there as Thuynder had told him very entertaining stories of his taking part in Binol’s Wizard test.

That is when the stone started pouring out evil Faerie creatures and Thuyner and Jerok found Lightning, telling him had to return to the stone.

5 adventurers are in a tavern listening to rumors of caravans being ambushed and plundered. A guard of one of the latest caravans bursts in the door and collapses. After being healed the mercenary explains that the mayor’s daughter and some important spear have been stolen. The guard leaves and the mayor comes in. He recruits/hires the 5 adventurers:

Cleric: Sny-dies
Monk: Khen
Thief: Tranquility
Barbarian: Edward Proudfeather
Wizard: Lightning

The 6 set out to where the caravan was headed. On their way they are attacked by large scorpions. While the party is fighting one, another drags the mayor (silently?) to a burrow. The 5 follow the drag tracks. 3 go in and rescue the mayor by killing one scorpion, while the other 2 kill another scorpion outside.

The 6 set out again and find that Bugbears are responsible for ambushing the caravan. The party makes their way to an old fortress where they think the Bugbears are holding the mayor’s daughter. After some hard fighting the party has broken into the fortress, have cleared a few rooms, and followed some stairs down where they encountered 3 undead.

We leave off in need of healing since our cleric is running very low on spells.

Fun times had by all. Especially role playing by a cleric and thief who rely on their looks to charm people when the monk “cares not for gold or lusty worldly pleasures”. A barbarian with a mouth as quick as his axe who belittles people like little monks and wizards with frogs as pets who don’t fight with ‘real’ weapons. A monk who is suspicious of all half-orcs (the barbarian is half-orc). Definitely makes for an interesting group that only seems to get along while they’re fighting a common enemy. =D

Oh ya! The monk was able to grapple the scorpion, but forgot to use his muscles (almost the whole adventure I forgot to add my strength bonus to my chance to hit). The monk evidently forgot that the scorpion could attack while grappling just as well as he could. Anyway after a few rounds, the mage (lightning) crawled out of the hole to let the barbarian and the thief know what was going on. When the barbarian found out about the little 5’3" monk wrestling a giant scorpion, he burst out in uncontrolled laughter. Thankfully the barbarian didn’t find out about the monk being knocked unconscious by the scorpion’s sting (he’s still down by 2 constitution points). If Edward (the barbarian) ever finds out about this, poor Khen (the monk) will never hear the end of it!

You left out the Monk wrestling with the scorpion, (and losing) definitely a picture worth describing…. :-)

While exploring a ruined castle thick with Bug bears our party, the half-orc barbarian, the short monk, the female elf rogue, the elf wizard and his toad, and the beautiful assimar cleric
find (Muscular Dwarf, Theresa’s character) and (Native human shaman, Carol’s character) and (Half Orc Paladin! Russ’s character) chained in the next room along with two dead bodies and ayoung half elf. A dark hole in the center of room whispers evil
thoughts into everyone’s mind. When you try to free the prisoners, a
creature of great evil exits the dark hole. Everyone is paralyzed and
certain of death. The creature pulls everyone into the dark hole with a
wave of his clawed hand.

Suddenly a bright flash, and a white circle in the air forms. A
muscular man in his late 30s steps out. He wears only a loose red cloth
shirt and a wool kilt patterned with pictures of swords. His long blond
hair hangs down in thick clumps. His body glows with magic, and his
large Great sword is held before him like a banner, and glows even
brighter. He yells forth a challenge and the evil creature retreats in
fear.
The cleric turns back to the white circle in the air. It is
only then that everyone sees the face of an ancient man in the circle.
His white hair hangs off the top if his head like tuffs of rabbit fur,
His slanted black eyes stare at each of you. The cleric stands
watching, tapping his foot impatiently. The old man nods, almost
imperceptibly.
The cleric turns toward you. His voice booms out like a war
trumpet. “I am Herb, the Warrior of all Battles. You are given a
choice, puny ones. Give your word now to Serve him,” he indicates the
old man, “and you will be rescued like the little children that your
are; and returned to the world alive. Chose not to, and your worthless
hides will hang here like rotten tomatoes, until something comes to
devour you, gnawing on your bones. A tasty treat to be sure. (He laughs
loudly) If given, your Word will be magically enforced, but you will
not be forced to go against your own nature (alignment). This service
will last only one year, unless you chose to extend your service longer.
(he smiles mysteriously) Speak now, puny creatures. The humans first,
for they are less puny than the elves.”
He stares into your eyes, each in turn waiting for your answer.
His bright blue eyes shine like tropical lagoon in the bright sunshine.
He will answer no questions of yours.
Edward: I give my word, but I don’t know what you would want with some
of these other puny guys. I mean, its nice that you save them, but they
are not great warriors like ourselves. Herb grabs that the half-orc Edward by the back of the neck, and says in
a teasing voice; “You have promise. Let’s get you a kilt and then see
how great you are!”

The short human monk quickly steps forward. “Yes I will serve you for the
agreed time. One year.”

Khen understands how powerful this being must be.

Young half elf from Synerg? “YES! I will serve you. I give my
word!”
The others all give their word.
Those who give their word, he pulls back into the room in the
dungeon in the true world. He unchains you. He then casts a spell
which shakes the floor and the hole collapses upon itself.
The old man speaks then. His voice is ancient, wise and
powerful, but quiet and quizzical at the same time. “I need the service
of the half-orc and the small human now. Step through the circle with
Herb. I will return you when your task is complete.” He turns to the
young half elf. “You must deliver your message. Herb will go with you
to ensure you reach your destination, but do not mention to the Prince
my involvement.” The half-nods nervously.
The half-orc and monk step through the circle and disappear.
The young half elf thank you for your small part in rescuing
him. He then says his is on an important mission to deliver a messages
to Siron. His prince is there visiting and the young half elf carries a
very important message for him that must be delivered. He also picks up
messages form the two dead bodies saying they were also intercepted
messengers to the Synerg Prince. He and Herb leave quickly.
