Proficient with Light and Medium armor, and shields. (non metal)
Proficient with Staff, club, dagger, dart, javelin, long, short and half spear, sickle, short bow, and sling. Oaths do NOT prevent other weapon use.
Special Abilities:
The bard is the keeper of the tradition, of the memory of the tribe, custodians of the sacredness of the Word, poet, musician, preserver of lore, inspirer and entertainer.
The Oaths require non combatant stance in Celtic tribe disputes. The oaths stress Leadership/guidance over combat. Combat is meant for the tribal warriors. To maintain power the Bard must follow the seasonal solstices with religious ceremony.
If declares himself to be a chronicler/non combatant, a special Sanctuary spell is cast over him. Spell has a 5 to it’s DC, and attempting to break it a Doom spell is applied before he rolls a save for the Sanctuary. If that does not prevent the attack a successful save against the Sanctuary while it allows an attack applies a Cause Fear spell to the violator. Sanctuary duration lasts as long as the battle or debate that is being recorded. Cannot attack or take any action while in spell or will lose all granted powers. A Celtic person attempting to break the spell will be exiled.
Bardic Perform abilities are mostly the same except they can be done twice per day per level if the songs/stories/poetry/music tell a story of the tribe’s history or current situations. The counter-song ability is instead a counter charm ability, which can negate, charm person and dominate, etc. The Fascinate and Suggestion ability can be applied to more than a single person (outside combat) by using up more of the per day limit at the same time. (i.e. 3 level bard, sign 6 times a day, fascinate 6 people at once) Also, for Celtic people the inspire effects are doubled.
Receives a +4 to Bardic knowledge checks associated with Celtic lore. Must learn and strive to preserve new stories/lore history every level in order to receive new level benefits.
